A lot happened during the month of July, 2020, and we took the opportunity to reflect on our three-year journey as ProBlast – a journey that has not been without challenges.
As you may all know that the mining industry has been faced by numerous macro-economic factors and the social challenges that still exist within South Africa and around the globe. However, as ProBlast, and through our commitment in providing safe and efficient blasting services to our South African clients, are adamant to stand the test of time.
Moreover, in the very same month of July we commemorated Mandela Day in a special way. The ProBlast team spent its 67 minutes in Dithamaga Primary School, situated in Limpopo’s Steelpoort region; where one of our operations is located. ProBlast handed over face masks, hand sanitisers and stationery to the school as part of their 67 Minutes drive and to demonstrate how much the ProBlast management team prioritizes social responsibility within its immediate communities. Mbali Ndlela and Joseph Matlou represented ProBlast at the event.
“You guys are the future!”

“You guys are the future!” These were some of the inspirational words the ProBlast representatives shared with the learners, echoing Mr Madiba’s sentiments on education. “Education is the most powerful weapon which can be used to change the world. Education is the key to eliminating gender inequality, to reducing poverty, to creating a sustainable planet and fostering peace.”

Suppliers who made our 67 minutes a success
ProBlast was intentional in choosing women led service providers who made this event possible:
Vulamehlo Skills Project
A women led project assisted in the manufacturing of the face masks.
Keenai Enterprises (Pty) Ltd
This company based in the heart of the Northern side of Tshwane, assisted in the supply of hand sanitisers.
Fourth Level Marking Solutions (Pty) Ltd
This black-female owned company assisted with the overseeing the branding of the face marks.
This was a concerted effort by women from all walks of life. It goes to show that when established businesses support and empower female led SMEs, a lot can be achieved.
Special thanks goes out to Mrs Dikobe, the principal of Dithamaga Primary School for granting us an opportunity to spend our Mandela Day with her learners and staff.
